Tuesday and Fridays 8:30 – 16:30, Term time only + inset days + Plus delivery of holiday camps (4/5 weeks per year)

Who We Are
OTF is an award-winning primary, secondary and post-16 alternative provision. We are a farm-based setting supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Many of the young people we support have additional special educational needs, including neurodivergence.
All placements are commissioned by schools and local authorities, and learners have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
We are a small, nurturing provision working within a therapeutic, THRIVE-informed approach, where relationships and emotional development sit at the heart of learning. We focus on building trust, developing regulation, and enabling young people to achieve meaningful and sustainable outcomes.
Where Do You Fit In
As a Technology & Digital Skills Tutor, you will deliver engaging, hands-on learning experiences that combine modern technology with practical and creative activities.
You will work within a THRIVE-informed, therapeutic framework, recognising that behaviour is communication and supporting young people at their individual stage of emotional development. Through consistent relationships, structure, and co-regulation, you will help learners feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn.
Your sessions will include:
- 3D design and printing
- Introduction to drones and remote-controlled technology
- Basic coding and digital creativity
- Electronics and simple circuits
- Robotics and mechanical build projects
- Primary-level engineering (e.g. structures, forces, simple machines, design challenges)
You will adapt delivery across primary, secondary, and post-16 learners, ensuring all young people can access and achieve, regardless of their starting point.
You will also contribute to holiday and summer provision, delivering engaging, structured activities that promote confidence, teamwork, and enjoyment.
Main Duties & AccountabilitiesInstruction & Training
- Plan and deliver engaging, practical sessions in technology and basic engineering across a range of age groups
- Introduce primary engineering concepts such as structures, mechanisms, and design thinking
- Deliver hands-on learning in areas such as 3D printing, coding, electronics, and robotics
- Use creative, project-based approaches to promote engagement and problem-solving
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet a wide range of SEMH and SEND needs
Therapeutic & THRIVE Practice
- Work within a THRIVE-informed and trauma-informed approach
- Build strong, consistent, and trusting relationships with young people
- Support emotional regulation through co-regulation, clear routines, and a safe environment
- Understand and respond to behaviour as a form of communication
- Work closely with therapists, pastoral staff, and families to support holistic outcomes
Holiday & Enrichment Provision
- Plan and deliver engaging holiday programmes, including summer provision
- Create structured, activity-based sessions combining technology, creativity, and outdoor opportunities
- Promote teamwork, communication, and confidence through group experiences
Assessment & Evaluation
- Monitor and assess learner engagement, progress, and practical skills
- Provide clear, consistent, and encouraging feedback
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of achievement and development
Curriculum Development
- Contribute to the development of an engaging and relevant technology and engineering curriculum
- Ensure learning reflects real-world applications and practical skills
- Develop resources suitable for a wide range of ages, abilities, and needs
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure safe use of all tools and equipment, including digital devices and practical resources
- Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Follow safeguarding, risk assessment, and health & safety policies at all times

Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in technology, engineering, digital skills or similar (Level 3 or above desirable)
- Teaching or tutoring qualification (desirable but not essential)
Knowledge
- Understanding of THRIVE approach, trauma-informed practice, and SEMH needs
- Knowledge of technology such as 3D printing, coding platforms, electronics, or robotics
- Awareness of how practical learning supports engagement in alternative provision
Experience
- Experience working with children or young people (primary and/or secondary)
- Experience delivering hands-on, practical learning
- Experience working with SEMH or SEND learners (desirable)
- Experience delivering group activities, workshops, or holiday programmes (highly desirable)
