Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dog Groomer to join our team. This role involves providing professional grooming services to a variety of dog breeds, ensuring each pet is treated with care and respect. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care, excellent customer service skills, and experience in grooming or veterinary fields. This position offers an opportunity to work in a friendly environment where animal welfare is the top priority. All role is to cover maternity. You will need a full licence and be able to drive a van
Responsibilities
- Perform grooming procedures such as bathing, trimming, clipping, and styling according to breed standards or customer preferences
- Assess each dog’s coat condition and recommend appropriate grooming treatments or products
- Handle dogs safely and gently, ensuring their comfort throughout the grooming process
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of grooming tools and work area
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding grooming needs and aftercare advice
- Assist with animal care tasks as needed, including feeding or minor health checks
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times during grooming sessions
Qualifications
- Previous experience in dog grooming, veterinary assistance, or animal care is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of different dog breeds and coat types
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with pet owners
- Ability to handle dogs safely, including those that may be anxious or difficult to manage
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and standing for extended periods during grooming sessions
- Compassionate attitude towards animals with a genuine interest in their wellbeing
- Organised with attention to detail to ensure high standards of grooming quality are maintained
