Job Description
The market analyst will be responsible for driving energy transition segment market evaluations and supporting our business strategy development with a focus on providing key market intelligence and analytics.
You will conduct market analyses across current and emerging energy transition segments such as LNG, nuclear, bioenergy / e-fuels, renewables, energy storage, etc. The focus will be on understanding potential market development pathways, market size / growth / profitability for John Crane, impact on our existing portfolio of products / business, and potential technology evolution pathways.
You will be supporting the annual Strategic Plan process, with a focus on compiling and synthesizing various market intelligence and initiatives into a holistic plan. Where applicable, you will also support some of these strategic initiatives, providing market data and insights. Working very closely with the John Crane Strategy, Portfolio, Sales, and Engineering / R&D teams to share market intelligence and to provide deeper knowledge on market developments, trends, and impact on the business.
New market segment evaluation, working closely with the Strategy, Portfolio, and Sales team:

Evaluate new market segments including market intelligence on market size, growth, technology implications and impact on John Crane

Actively assess competitor moves, strategies, and financials

Develop market models to support overall market assessment and growth strategy

Support key Energy Transition business strategy and M&A efforts

Support annual Strategic Plan efforts including synthesizing key results, financial plans, and implementation roadmaps

Working closely with JC Strategy team, support development of Energy Transition Solutions adjacency and M&A opportunities, including strategic rationale, fit with JC, and financial models to evaluate targets including developing financial forecasts & synergy models.

Support relevant Energy Transition business initiative efforts

Work with Strategy, Portfolios, Marketing, and Commercial teams to support on-going business initiatives with a focus on gathering, synthesizing and sharing market data

Work with team to develop implementation plans, monitoring tools in support of execution

Actively promote knowledge sharing and cascading of market intelligence, data, and tools into the broader John Crane organization to build capabilities and skill-sets
Qualifications

Strong analytical skills, including advanced Excel knowledge

2 – 5 years’ experience in a similar role, with demonstrated practical knowledge of driving analytical assessment of complex problems and translating analysis into actionable recommendations

Prior experience working in a strategy consulting firm on or a B2B industrial company

Experience and knowledge in energy transition, sustainability, decarbonization, etc. is a plus

Experience in market analytics, ability to perform key analysis around market sizing, assessing trends in the market, segmentation, identifying market opportunities, working with and manipulating quantitative data

An ability to work within a matrix organization across multi-functional teams

Comfortable working with and influencing a diverse group of people and stakeholders

Must display a can-do attitude and strong collaboration skills.

Good written and verbal communication skills, a proficiency in MS Office

An analytical undergraduate degree (Engineering, Science, Economics) helpful but not required.
