General Manager - The Lion, Leintwardine
The General Manager is responsible for the overall operation, performance and profitability of the pub and restaurant. This role leads front-of-house and back-of-house teams to deliver excellent customer service, maintain high food and beverage standards, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and achieve financial targets.
Our pub is located in the village of Leintwardine - The Lion, Leintwardine, Craven Arms, SY7 0JZ
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations Management
- Oversee daily pub, restaurant and accommodation operations
- Ensure smooth service during all trading hours
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and customer experience.
- Monitor stock levels and oversee the ordering of food, beverage and supplies.
- Manage opening and closing procedures.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, schedule and supervise staff.
- Lead, motivate and develop employees to maintain strong moral and performance.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and performance reviews.
- Handle disciplinary matters and resolve workplace issues professionally.
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences and resolve customer complaints promptly.
- Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements where needed.
Financial Management
- Manage budgets, labour costs and operating expenses.
- Monitor sales performance and profitability.
- Prepare financial reports.
- Control stock, minimise waste and prevent loss.
- Ensure accurate cash handling and banking procedures.
Food and Beverage Management
- Work closely with the Executive Chef, kitchen and bar staff to maintain quality standards.
- Develop and promote seasonal menus, drinks offers and events.
- Ensure compliance with licencing laws and responsible alcohol service.
Compliance and Health and Safety
- Ensure compliance with food hygiene, licensing, employment and health and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and certifications.
- Conduct regular safety and hygiene checks.
Marketing and Business Development
- Plan promotions, events and local marketing activities.
- Increase customer engagements and drive revenue growth.
- Maintain positive online reputation and social media presence where applicable.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in hospitality management, preferably in a pub or restaurant environment.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Good financial and business acumen.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and licensing regulations.
- Proficient in POS systems and basic reporting software.
