Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Security Dog Handler to join our professional security team. The successful candidate will be responsible for utilising trained security dogs to safeguard premises, deter potential threats, and assist in loss prevention efforts. This role offers an engaging opportunity for individuals passionate about security and animal training, with a focus on maintaining a safe environment through effective canine partnership. The position involves working in various settings, including commercial and industrial sites, ensuring the safety of personnel and property.
Duties
- Conduct patrols of designated areas using trained security dogs to monitor for suspicious activity or security breaches
- Assist with loss prevention by deterring theft and vandalism through visible canine presence
- Utilise surveillance equipment, including CCTV systems, to observe and report irregularities or security concerns
- Respond promptly to alarms or incidents, providing support to other security personnel as needed
- Perform basic first aid in case of minor injuries or emergencies until professional medical assistance arrives
- Maintain the health, training, and behaviour of the security dogs to ensure optimal performance during patrols
- Complete detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and observations for management records
- Follow all health and safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment for team members and the public
Requirements
- Proven experience in surveillance, loss prevention, or security operations is preferred
- Knowledge of CCTV operation and monitoring techniques is advantageous
- Ability to handle and train security dogs effectively with patience and professionalism
- First aid certification or willingness to obtain certification upon employment is highly desirable
- Strong observational skills with an eye for detail to identify potential threats or irregularities
- Excellent communication skills for reporting incidents clearly and accurately
- Physically fit with the ability to perform patrols over extended periods and handle the physical demands of working with animals
- Valid UK driving licence is preferred but not essential
- A responsible attitude with a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and integrity
Pay: £12.21-£16.00 per hour
