Principal Public Health Engineer - London

We are now seeking a Principal Public Health Engineer to join one of our UK offices (London, Bicester or Newcastle).

Role Responsibilities

Responsible for the running of large projects. Undertakes a client facing role in the development and design and coordination of engineering project services for Mechanical or Electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities etc. (Several building types)

Develops and specifies applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes

Surveys, tests, carries out dilapidation reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations

Specifies activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements

Day to day decision making on project progress and direct liaison with and provides advice to client

Represents Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors teams

Ensures engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards

Leads on the coordination of engineering services

Takes a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions

Role Requirements

MSc/BEng Qualified or have sufficient equivalent experience in the field of Public Health design
Minimum of 7 years’ experience with strong expertise in Public Health Engineering (water services, gas, above ground drainage and sanitation systems, rainwater disposal system design and fire suppression installations
Knowledge and experience of sustainable design including solar hot water systems, rainwater/grey water recycling innovations
Experience across mission critical/ data centre (highly desirable), commercial and mixed-use developments
Proven track record, working for large international consulting organisation within the UK or overseas, on major design projects
Working knowledge of core technical guidance published by CIBSE, British Standards, ISO, BSRIA, HSE and CIPHE
Competence in fire protection design is essential and experience with international standards such as EN, VdS, NFPA and FM highly desirable.
Good knowledge of current standards and design codes essential
Good working knowledge of MS outlook, Word, Excel, Bluebeam, NAVIS.
Advantageous to have a good knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT but not essential.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with architects and fellow designers
Confident to work independently as PH discipline lead driving project deliverables forward and capable of managing junior members of staff
Highly motivated with the drive to take on new challenges
Effective organisation, attention to detail and leadership capability Ability to review and validate PH and Sprinkler technical design outputs.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong presentation and communication skills.
Confident delivering complex projects and advising stakeholders
Good understanding of British and European Standards/UK Regulations/Codes
Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy.
