About the Role
A premier mechanical services contractor is currently seeking highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Supervisors to lead site teams across active projects in Bicester, London, and Maidenhead.
As a Mechanical Supervisor, you will play a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day on-site operations of mechanical installations. Your primary focus will be managing the installation, commissioning, and handover of comprehensive mechanical systems, with a heavy emphasis on HVAC, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Building Management Controls. You will be the vital link between site operatives, subcontractors, and the project management team, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Site Management: Supervise and coordinate direct labour and mechanical subcontractors on-site, ensuring optimal productivity and workmanship.
Technical Oversight: Lead the installation, testing, and commissioning of complex HVAC, ventilation, air conditioning, and control systems.
Health & Safety: Enforce stringent on-site Health & Safety standards. Conduct regular toolbox talks, site inductions, and ensure full compliance with Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
Quality Assurance: Conduct routine quality control inspections to ensure all mechanical installations meet exact project specifications and industry standards.
Progress Reporting: Monitor project progress against the programme of works. Maintain accurate site records, diaries, and report daily/weekly updates to the Project Manager.
Problem Resolution: Proactively identify on-site technical or logistical issues and implement effective, practical solutions to prevent delays.
Material Management: Assist in the requisition of plant, equipment, and materials, ensuring they are available on-site precisely when needed.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven Experience: Significant previous experience working as a Mechanical Supervisor within the commercial building services sector.
Specialist Knowledge: Extensive hands-on experience and deep technical understanding of HVAC, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and associated control systems.
Qualifications:
Valid SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
Valid CSCS Gold or Black Supervisor Card.
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant mechanical discipline (e.g., Heating & Ventilation, Pipefitting, or Plumbing).
Leadership: Strong ability to lead, motivate, and manage multi-disciplined site teams.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with clients, project managers, and tradespeople.
Mobility: A full UK driving licence is required, along with a willingness to travel to designated sites across Bicester, London, and Maidenhead.
