Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled CNC Turner Setter/Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC turning machines to produce high-precision components. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background and experience in machining processes. The ideal applicant will possess a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Set up and programme CNC turning machines, ensuring accurate operation according to technical drawings and specifications
- Monitor machine performance during production runs, making adjustments as necessary to maintain quality standards
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of CNC equipment to ensure optimal functioning
- Interpret technical drawings and CAD files, including SolidWorks, to determine tooling and machining parameters
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for auxiliary tasks such as assembly or repairs
- Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and accessories for machining operations
- Perform basic maths calculations to determine measurements, tolerances, and feed rates
- Assist with plastics injection moulding processes when required
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment adhering to health and safety regulations
Qualifications
- Proven experience in setting and operating CNC turning machines
- Experience using Mazak, Siemens or Fanuc controls.
- Knowledge of Aerospace engineering.
- Knowledge of turning with driven tooling advantageous.
- A strong team ethic and willingness to communicate effectively with your peers
- Knowledge of grinding, milling, and welding techniques is desirable
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar programmes
- Mechanical knowledge related to tooling, assembly, and machine maintenance
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and tooling management
- Basic maths skills for precise measurement and calculations
- Experience working with plastics injection moulding processes is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
