Full job description

NRE Services Ltd is looking for an experienced and motivated Utility Arboriculture Surveyor to support vegetation management programmes on behalf of Distribution Network Operators across the UK.

This is an important role within our growing utility arboriculture business, helping to identify, plan and specify essential vegetation clearance works around overhead electrical networks and associated infrastructure.

You will be responsible for surveying trees and vegetation in proximity to power lines, identifying required clearances, recording site information accurately and producing clear work specifications for operational teams. The role requires a strong understanding of utility arboriculture, safety requirements, environmental considerations and DNO standards.

Working closely with our management and operational teams, you will help develop safe, efficient and practical vegetation management plans. This may include identifying where specialist machinery, mechanised methods or alternative working techniques can be used to improve productivity, reduce risk and minimise environmental impact.

This is a varied and rewarding role suited to someone who is organised, professional and confident working independently, while also being part of a supportive and experienced team.

Preferred Skills

Candidates should have:

A full UK Driving Licence.
Strong arboricultural knowledge and practical industry experience.
A good understanding of utility vegetation management practices.
Experience surveying trees and vegetation around overhead power lines.
Competent IT skills and experience using digital surveying systems.
Good communication and organisational skills.
The ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
A professional attitude with strong attention to detail.
A clear commitment to health, safety, quality and environmental standards.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

UA5 Utility Arboriculture Surveying qualification.
Additional Utility Arboriculture qualifications, including UA1 to UA5.
Level 3 Arboriculture qualification or higher.
LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection qualification.
GIS mapping experience.
Previous DNO vegetation management experience.
Experience preparing work packs, survey reports or vegetation management plans.
Experience liaising with clients, landowners or operational teams.
