HEAD HOUSEKEEPER – Safe Harbor Care Homes

We’re looking for a Head Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping and laundry service—someone who takes pride in immaculate standards, understands infection prevention, and can run a well-organised team.

The role (what you’ll be doing)

Leading the housekeeping team to keep the home immaculately clean, safe and welcoming
Developing, implementing and maintaining documented cleaning schedules (frequency, method, products)
Ensuring strong infection prevention and control (IPC) standards, including enhanced cleaning of high-touch areas
Managing cleaning products and equipment safely, including COSHH compliance and correct storage/usage of hazardous substances
Ensuring strict adherence to national colour-coding to prevent cross-contamination
Overseeing laundry processes to ensure soiled/infectious/clean linen is handled and processed correctly
Managing waste safely (general/clinical/sharps where applicable), in line with national guidance
Completing housekeeping checks, audits and paperwork accurately and on time (and ensuring actions are closed out)
Managing stock levels and ordering (including PPE, consumables, laundry and waste supplies) within budget
Inspecting fixtures/fittings and reporting defects promptly so the environment remains safe and cleanable
Supporting recruitment, induction and training of domestic staff, and ensuring competency in role
Managing rotas to ensure appropriate cover and standards at all times

What we’re looking for

Experience in housekeeping/domestic services (care setting desirable)
Confidence leading a team (rotas, day-to-day supervision, standards)
Strong understanding of IPC, Health & Safety, COSHH and safe systems of work
Excellent organisation and attention to detail—accurate records and audits are essential
A professional, respectful approach with good communication skills
Ability to be proactive—spotting issues early and getting them resolved
Right to work in the UK — applicants must not require sponsorship now or in the future
