Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organised Parish Clerk/Responsible Finance Officer to join our local council team. This vital role involves managing administrative duties, financial responsibilities, and providing excellent customer service to the community. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of parish affairs, maintaining accurate records, and supporting council activities. Experience with office software and strong organisational skills are essential for this position.
Responsibilities
- Managing all administrative tasks related to parish council operations, including preparing agendas, minutes, and reports.
- Overseeing financial administration, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Maintaining accurate records of council meetings, decisions, and correspondence.
- Handling enquiries from residents and community members with professionalism and courtesy.
- Organising meetings and events, ensuring all logistical arrangements are in place.
- Utilising Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) to produce documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and manage emails efficiently.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and maintaining up-to-date records for audit purposes.
- Supporting the council in strategic planning and project management activities.

Requirements
- Proven experience in office administration or similar roles within local government or community organisations.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Demonstrable experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge of IT systems relevant to financial management and record keeping.
- Customer service orientation with a professional approach to community engagement.
- Administrative experience involving financial oversight or responsible financial management is preferred.
