Overview

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Café Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high standards of food safety. This role offers an opportunity to develop barista skills, gain experience in food preparation, and work in a vibrant café environment. The position is suitable for individuals who are organised, reliable, and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee and tea, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met.
Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, and other light snacks.
Take orders from customers accurately and efficiently, providing friendly service at all times.
Handle cash transactions accurately using the POS system and manage customer payments.
Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including tables, counters, and equipment, adhering to food safety regulations.
Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.
Follow health and safety procedures diligently to ensure a safe environment for both staff and customers.
Manage time effectively during busy periods to serve customers promptly without compromising quality.

Experience

Previous experience in a café or hospitality setting is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided.
Knowledge of food safety standards is desirable.
Barista experience is a plus but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential.
Experience in serving customers with professionalism and courtesy.
Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Good time management skills to prioritise duties during busy periods.
