As a Surgical Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering high standards of peri-operative nursing care, supporting our veterinary surgeons during procedures, and ensuring a seamless patient journey — including the safe transfer and admission of surgical and complex cases to our 24-hour hospital in Watford. You will be responsible for patient preparation, theatre support, anaesthesia monitoring, post-operative care, and discharge planning, while maintaining exceptional clinical standards and regulatory compliance. A significant part of this role includes coordinating and escorting patients requiring ongoing or advanced care to our 24-hour hospital in Watford, ensuring clear clinical handovers and continuity of care. We are a 3-vet, first-opinion practice led by an experienced Branch Partner, supported by a collaborative team of 4 RVNs, a Client Care Assistant, and 2 VCAs. We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident, and proactive RVN with a strong interest in surgical nursing and inpatient care to join our close-knit and supportive team. Medivet Flitwick is a well-established practice offering exposure to a wide range of surgical and medical procedures. This position would suit a nurse who thrives in theatre, enjoys hands-on surgical involvement, and is confident managing patients requiring referral or out-of-hours hospitalisation. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week across 4–5 days, with 1 in 4 Saturdays at Flitwick. You will also be required to work two bank holidays per year and complete two weeks of out-of-hours on-call duty annually at our 24-hour hospital in Watford. If you are passionate about surgical nursing, patient advocacy, and delivering gold-standard care across both practice and hospital settings, we would love to hear from you.
