Deloitte’s Investment Management and Wealth practice is actively engaged across the industry to support delivering a wide range of operational, technical, and regulatory solutions designed to help the players across the value chain create a competitive advantage and achieve their growth ambitions. Our practice works closely with leading Private Banks, Wealth Managers, Asset Managers and Asset Servicing firms to solve large complex problems, with a particular emphasis on optimising and transforming back-office operations.

This is a pivotal leadership role where you will deliver the strategic technical direction and orchestrate the end-to-end delivery of complex, large-scale technology transformation programmes for our most significant insurance clients whilst inspiring and empowering cross-functional teams.
Your responsibilities will include:

Leading the technical planning, estimation, and execution of projects, ensuring adherence to technical scope, timelines, and quality standards.

Providing technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to development and technical teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating technical risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle, developing effective solutions and escalating critical items as necessary.

Ensuring the delivery of high-quality, robust, and scalable technical solutions by enforcing coding standards, conducting code reviews, and advocating for appropriate testing strategies.

Acting as a key technical point of contact, effectively communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and translating business needs into technical specifications.

Staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential application to improve existing solutions and/or drive innovation within the insurance landscape.

Overseeing the technical aspects of deployment, ensuring solutions are properly integrated, performant, and ready for operational support, including defining monitoring and support requirements.

Collaborating with project managers to allocate technical resources effectively, ensuring the right skills are applied to the right tasks to achieve project objectives.

Deep expertise in Technology & Transformation within the insurance sector, navigating its unique challenges and opportunities.

Proven ability to lead and deliver complex, large-scale technology transformation programmes from strategy through to successful implementation.

Strong knowledge of technology strategy, including digital transformation, cloud adoption, and emerging technologies relevant to insurance.
-
Outstanding communication, presentation, and business writing skills, with a demonstrated ability to bridge technical and senior business stakeholders (up to C-suite) within complex insurance organisations.
-
Expert in leading large-scale Agile/SAFe programmes, fostering a robust DevOps culture, and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
-
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire technical teams, providing clear guidance and direction throughout the software development lifecycle.
-
Demonstrated experience in making critical technical decisions and resolving complex technical challenges in high-pressure environments.

Practical experience with modern software development practices, programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, .NET, JavaScript frameworks), and development tools.

Strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience with cloud-native architectures.
-
Familiarity with databases (SQL/NoSQL), APIs, microservices, and integration patterns.
-
Strong commitment to code quality, testing best practices, and security considerations in development.
Preferred Skills:
-
Hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures and solutions on at least one hyperscaler stack (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP), specifically within an insurance context (e.g., migrating core insurance systems, leveraging cloud for data analytics).

Deep understanding of modern data architectures, data governance, and the application of AI/ML/GenAI in insurance (e.g., intelligent automation for claims, predictive analytics for underwriting, fraud detection). Experience in designing and overseeing AI-driven solutions.

Ability to define and articulate technology roadmaps that align with business objectives and critical regulatory requirements (e.g., Solvency II, IDD, GDPR, EU AI Act implications).

Proven ability to think commercially about technology solutions, estimate/measure ROI, and actively contribute to presales activities and proposition development.

Prior experience in a consulting environment, managing client engagements and delivering value-added technical solutions.

Experience in coaching and developing technical talent, fostering continuous learning and technical excellence.

Knowledge of emerging AI technologies and their potential applications and risks.
