Bookkeeping & Payroll Administrator
(Part-Time, Fixed-Term )
Location: Stokesley (primarily office-based, with occasional travel to client sites using a company vehicle) - (Not suitable for Remote working)
Contract Type: 12-month fixed-term maternity cover – potential for a permanent role
Hours: Part-time – 2–3 days per week per role
Salary: Equivalent to £28,000 per annum (pro rata)

We’re looking for a highly organised, proactive individual to join our team in a varied and hands-on role combining bookkeeping, payroll, accounts support, and involvement in marketing and events.
The Role – No Two Days Are the Same
This is a diverse role where you’ll play a key part in keeping the business running smoothly while supporting its continued growth.
You’ll be just as comfortable working on client accounts and processing payrolls as you are supporting marketing campaigns and helping deliver events.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys responsibility, has a strong eye for detail, and brings energy and ideas to their work.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Payroll
- Managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients using QuickBooks, Xero and LimeBooks.
- Processing payrolls accurately and efficiently for multiple businesses.
- Managing pension submissions and RTI reporting.
- Assisting with VAT return preparation and submissions.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with deadlines.
Operations & Administration
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the business.
- Managing administrative tasks, documentation and filing systems.
- Welcoming clients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
- Providing general business support where required.
Marketing & Events Support
- Assisting with social media activity and business communications.
- Supporting events, promotional activities and client engagement initiatives.
- Gathering client feedback and testimonials and assisting with reporting activities.
About You
We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have established bookkeeping experience and are confident working with minimal supervision.
You will ideally have:
- AAT Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years’ commercial bookkeeping experience (significantly more experience welcomed).
- Practical payroll experience.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or similar platforms.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Good numeracy skills and confidence working with financial information.
- Professional communication skills and a client-focused approach.
You will also be someone who:

- Is dependable, trustworthy and takes ownership of their work.
- Has a professional and mature approach to client relationships and confidentialities.
- Enjoys working as part of a close-knit, supportive team.
- Brings a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Additional Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to client sites.
- Experience within, or understanding of, the farming or countryside sector would be advantageous.
