Job Purpose:
The Engineering & Project Delivery Manager will manage inspection, maintenance, and project delivery to ensure available and reliable operations of fuel farm facilities and airport hydrant system at North Air operated sites.
The role is homebased and will involve significant travel to all Southern North Air sites across the UK on a regular (weekly) basis, including potential prolonged periods of overnight stays to support project delivery.
The role comes with a homeworking allowance, car allowance and a bonus up to 15%
Key Responsibilities:
The candidate will be required to carry out the following activities, although this is not an exhaustive list:
- Manage engineering projects throughout the full project lifecycle ensuring delivery is on time, to the right specification and within budget
- Agree and set the project execution strategy with internal and external stakeholders
- Oversee project teams in their delivery of projects at all stages of the project lifecycle
- Oversee the approved budget, scope, change control, risk and opportunities across all designated projects
- Prepare and present monthly progress reports
- Provide regular project update to key stakeholders
- Ensure engineering and project investment decisions are always in the best interest of North Air and the customer
- Provide support for COMAH compliance
- Ensure sites and equipment are inspected and maintained
- Facilitate effective communication between the customers, contractors, maintenance and operations, teams
- Deputise for the Maintenance Manager in their absence
- Ensure that the inspection philosophy complies with JIG, operator and industry standards and is accurately captured in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Lead/Participate in site investigations and integrate lessons learned
- Introduce new methods, techniques and systems where necessary to further improve operational or project delivery standards and efficiency
- Be accountable for manpower planning and management of resource
Experience - Essential
- Degree in Engineering or Project Management
- Prince 2 Project Management Qualification / APM PMQ or equivalent and proficient in the use of project management tools
- A good understanding and knowledge of engineering project management, design, procurement, safety case, construction and installation/commissioning management, ideally within an aviation fuel farm and/or hydrant system
- Minimum of 5 years management or supervisory experience in a related industry
- Previous experience of estimating, cost control, planning and commercial awareness including the preparation of business cases and sanction/ funding papers
- Good understanding of financial budgets, project milestone billing requirements and cost controls
- Detailed knowledge of aviation fuel storage systems, and aviation inspection requirements and standards
- At least five years’ experience of storage and hydrant operations, ideally in a COMAH environment
- Knowledge and experience of delivering construction projects under CDM
- Experience of Contractor Management required
- A proven track record of working within highly regulated environments with high safety standards and culture
- Knowledge of DSEAR Regulations, Hazardous Area Classification/Zoning
- Lean Six-Sigma qualification and/or experience
- Strong interpersonal and people management skills
- Strong leadership skills and an ability to motivate a cross functional team
- Ability to communicate and engage effectively with all stakeholders
