Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Builders Labourer to work as part of our construction team. The successful candidate will provide practical support to builders and skilled tradespeople across multiple construction sites.
The role will involve working on various projects throughout Nottingham and potentially Derby and Leicester, so the ability to travel between sites is essential.
This is a physically demanding role within a fast-paced construction environment. You must be able to work using your own initiative, follow instructions, and work effectively as part of a team while supporting highly skilled tradespeople.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist builders and tradespeople with daily construction activities
- Carry out general labouring duties to support site operations
- Prepare and mix materials including mortar, cement, and other building materials
- Provide labouring support to builders, including preparation and movement of materials
- Load, unload, move, and distribute materials safely around site
- Assist with preparation, installation, and finishing tasks as required
- Use basic hand tools safely and correctly
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working area
- Follow all site rules, RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements), and health & safety procedures
- Wear appropriate PPE and comply with company and client safety requirements
- Report any hazards, near misses, or unsafe conditions
- Work independently when required and use initiative to complete tasks efficiently
- Work closely with skilled tradesmen to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to a high standard
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Builders Labourer within the construction industry
- Good knowledge of general building practices and site operations
- Experience supporting builders, including mixing materials and general labouring duties
- Ability to work safely and responsibly in a construction environment
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling tasks
- Reliable, punctual, and professional approach to work
- Own transport and a valid UK driving licence (essential due to travel between sites)
- Own basic hand tools suitable for the role
- Registered as self-employed
- Registered under the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
- Hold valid Public Liability Insurance cover
Desirable Requirements
- Valid CSCS card (preferred but not essential)
- Previous experience working alongside bricklayers, groundworkers, or other construction trades
- Understanding of construction site health and safety requirements
Compliance Requirements
As a self-employed contractor, you will be responsible for ensuring you have:
- Valid CIS registration
- Appropriate Public Liability Insurance
- Required site documentation/certification
- Suitable PPE and tools required to complete the work safely
Physical Requirements
The role involves:
- Manual handling of materials
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying throughout the working day
- Working in a physically demanding construction environment

Pay: £120.00-£150.00 per day
