The role
We’re looking for a Finance Assistant that will provide accurate, timely and efficient financial administration support to the Finance Team, ensuring smooth day-to-day finance operations and enabling the Management Accountant to maintain robust financial control.
The Accounts Assistant will play a key role in supporting transactional finance processes, including purchase ledger, purchase orders, supplier payments, staff expenses, bank transactions, reconciliations and general finance administration.
The role requires strong attention to detail, accuracy and organisation, ensuring records are maintained correctly, deadlines are met, and financial processes are followed consistently.
Working closely with the Management Accountant and operational teams, the postholder will help ensure suppliers, staff and internal stakeholders receive a responsive and professional finance support service.
This role will also support in general admin support that may be needed across the business from time to time.
You will work as part of a fast paced, agile, creative organisation.
Part Time Role between Monday to Friday, 10:00am – 3:00pm. This role may have a opportunity to go full time in the future.

Key elements of the day-to-day role:
The role will involve:
- Process purchase invoices and match to purchase orders where applicable
- Raise and maintain purchase orders in line with company processes
- Maintain supplier records and resolve invoice queries
- Prepare supplier payment runs for approval
- Reconcile supplier statements
- Post bank transactions, receipts and payments
- Maintain petty cash records for each office
- Process and reconcile company credit cards
- Process staff expense claims from submission through to payment
- Verify claims against policy and ensure supporting documentation
- Code expenses accurately and flag non-compliant expenditure
- Post sales receipts and perform sales ledger reconciliation
- Issue customer statements and assist with chasing payment
- Provide general finance administration and filing
- Support operational teams with travel bookings, consumables and meetings
- Follow financial controls and procedures
- Use Sage, job costing software and Microsoft tools accurately
- General Admin Support: Answering the door and office phone to represent ICE and well as supporting with any general admin tasks that may need to be completed across the business.

Essential existing skills/experience
- GSCE Maths and English
- AAT qualified or equivalent, or qualified by experience
- Office experience
- Knowledge of Sage and basic accounting principles.
- Accounts payable experience
- Strong numeracy, Excel skills and attention to detail
- Clear communicator.
- Can do attitude.
- Strong organisation skills and can use outlook calendar and other Microsoft tools to support this.
- Consistent and self-motivated; able to manage multiple priorities
- Resilient, proactive and comfortable with completing tasks on own where support is not needed.
- Collaborative approach and commitment to integrity and quality
- knowledge of Microsoft products
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Ability to manage your own work and deliver across multiple requests.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn and grow.
- Experience in using Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other digital platforms.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of job costing systems
- Accounts receivable experience
- Experience working in SMEs in the service sector
