Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated qualified Accounts Senior to join our established team. The ideal candidate will have strong prior experience of working within an accountancy practice, with the ability to liaise with clients and mentor junior staff. Role Purpose
The Accounts Senior is responsible for preparing accurate statutory and management accounts for a portfolio of GL Barker clients. The role focuses on delivering high-quality accounts production services, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting a seamless client experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare year-end statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Prepare management accounts and financial reports as required by clients
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and Companies House filing requirements
- Review trial balances, reconcile balance sheet items and investigate discrepancies
- Work closely with Bookkeepers and Payroll to ensure records are complete and accurate prior to accounts preparation
- Liaise with clients to resolve queries prior to review stage
- Liaise with client support team manager and external tax specialists to support corporation tax, business tax and personal tax computations
- Respond to client queries relating to accounts in a clear and professional manner.
- Meet internal and external deadlines, escalating issues where required
- Responding to calls and emails from clients in a timely manner
- Identifying and implementing new practices for maximum efficiency and effectiveness
- Ensuring knowledge is kept current through ongoing Continuous Professional Development
- Supporting other team members and carrying out any reasonable instructions to support the business

Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a senior role within an accountancy practice is essential
- ACCA or ACA qualified
- Extensive knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in multiple accounting software packages including IRIS, Sage, Xero, and similar platforms
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior staff members effectively
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly
- Strong analytical and organisational skills
- A "can-do" attitude and focus on accuracy
- Previous experience and knowledge of personal tax would be desirable

Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
