Head of Operations - Pegasus Care
Pegasus Care is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Head of Operations to help lead the next stage of our journey.
This is a hands-on senior leadership role for someone who understands adult social care, knows how to support and challenge managers, and can help services grow whilst maintaining high standards of care, governance and culture.
We are not looking for someone who leads from behind a desk.
We are looking for someone visible, operational, calm under pressure and passionate about building strong services and strong teams.
You will work closely with Registered Managers and senior leaders across a portfolio of residential and supported living services, helping to drive quality, accountability, operational stability and service performance.

The Role
As Head of Operations, you will oversee a regional portfolio of services and support operational performance across areas including:
- Quality and compliance
- Leadership development
- Occupancy and growth
- Safeguarding and governance
- Workforce stability
- Culture and accountability
- Commercial performance
A big part of the role is developing Registered Managers and helping them grow into confident operational leaders.
You will need to be able to build relationships, hold standards, make decisions and support services through both challenges and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support Registered Managers across your region
- Drive strong CQC outcomes and inspection readiness
- Support service improvement and stabilisation
- Lead governance and operational review processes
- Oversee incidents, safeguarding and complaints
- Support occupancy growth and reduce agency dependency
- Build positive, accountable team cultures
- Support recruitment, retention and succession planning
- Drive operational consistency across services
- Support new service mobilisation, integration and growth projects
For the North East role, there will also be a strong focus on integrating and stabilising newly acquired services as part of our regional growth plans.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience leading multiple adult social care services
- Has managed Registered Managers directly
- Understands CQC regulations and operational governance
- Can confidently lead improvement work and service turnaround activity
- Is commercially aware and operationally organised
- Can balance support with accountability
- Builds strong relationships and credibility quickly
- Cares about people, quality and culture
Experience within Learning Disability, Mental Health and Supported Living services would be highly advantageous.

Regular travel across services will be required.
