About the Role are seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join our growing wastewater delivery team across the Midlands. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning and controlling the delivery of major wastewater infrastructure projects, supporting operational teams to safely deliver projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements.
Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers, Commercial Teams, and Supply Chain Partners, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and analysing project programmes throughout the project lifecycle. You will provide clear visibility of project performance, identify risks and opportunities, and support the implementation of mitigation and recovery strategies where required.
This role offers a combination of site, office, and home-based working, providing exposure to a diverse portfolio of wastewater treatment, network, pumping station, and civil engineering projects across the Midlands region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project programmes from tender through to project completion.
- Produce baseline programmes and regularly update progress to provide accurate forecasts and performance reporting.
- Identify critical path activities, programme risks, and constraints, working with project teams to develop mitigation strategies.
- Support project teams in developing construction methodologies, sequencing, and delivery strategies.
- Monitor progress against key milestones and contractual requirements.
- Prepare programme reports, dashboards, and planning outputs for internal and client-facing meetings.
- Analyse programme performance and support recovery planning where projects deviate from agreed targets.
- Collaborate with operational and commercial teams to assess the impact of change on programme delivery.
- Support project controls activities including forecasting, progress measurement, and risk management.
- Attend project sites regularly to validate progress and ensure programmes accurately reflect delivery activities.
- Contribute to bid and tender submissions by developing programmes and delivery strategies.
- Promote best practice planning standards and continuous improvement across the business.
- Mentor and support junior planners and project team members where required.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in a planning role within civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure construction.
- Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6.
- Experience developing and maintaining construction programmes on live projects.
- Understanding of critical path analysis, programme logic, resource planning, and project controls principles.
- Ability to interpret engineering information and translate it into practical delivery programmes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary project teams.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts and programme requirements.
- Experience supporting tender planning activities.
Desirable
- Experience delivering wastewater, water, utilities, or process infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with Power BI, project reporting tools, or data visualisation software.
- Professional membership with APM or similar industry body.

Pay: £65,000.00-£80,000.00 per year
