The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Clerk of Works to join our growing Quality Monitoring team.
Working across the Midlands with UK-wide travel where required; acting as our eyes and ears on site, you will independently inspect construction works to ensure they are delivered in accordance with specifications, programme requirements, and the high standards expected by our clients.
Reporting to an Associate / Project Lead, you will work across a varied portfolio of projects within healthcare, education, residential, and defence sectors, often within live operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake regular site inspections to monitor the quality of workmanship, materials, and construction methods against drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Identify, record, and track defects, non-conformances, and risks through to resolution utilising software such as Field View.
- Produce clear, concise site reports, including photographic records and progress updates.
- Maintain accurate site diaries and robust audit trails.
- Liaise daily with contractors, sub-contractors, consultants, and client representatives
- Attend and contribute to site meetings, progress reviews, and quality inspections.
- Monitor and verify compliance with health & safety standards and project protocols.
- Support project handover processes, including snagging, de-snagging, and post-completion inspections.
- Provide proactive quality assurance advice to project teams.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Proven experience as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector, or equivalent within the construction industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of building construction, materials, and current UK Building Regulations. Ideal trade background.
- Experience working on projects within healthcare, education, residential, or defence environments.
- Ability to confidently interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documentation
- Membership of ICWCI, MCIOB, ACQP (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards accreditation and professional memberships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in report writing
- Self-motivated, methodical, and confident in challenging workmanship where required.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across regional project sites.
- Valid CSCS card.
Desirable
- Relevant qualification (HNC/HND or degree in Construction or related discipline).
- NEC Supervisor experience although full training and accreditation will be provided.
- Experience working on large scale new build and refurbishment schemes.
- Experience of delivering quality assurance in live or operational environments.
