Full job description

Role Purpose

To oversee the daily operations of the Assembly, Despatch, and Goods Inwards departments, ensuring all performance targets are achieved while supporting the implementation of new procedures and enforcing company policies and standards. The role involves troubleshooting production issues on the shop floor, promoting safe working practices, and fostering a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Working closely with the Assembly / Procurement Manager, the role supports the management, coaching, and development of the team to ensure departmental objectives are met. It also focuses on improving workflow, enhancing communication, and driving efficient processes to achieve a smoother, more productive operation.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

To ensure daily production targets are achieved efficiently and consistently for the assembly, goods inwards and despatch department
To ensure all departmental procedures and processes are followed in line with company standards for the assembly, Goods Inwards and despatch department
To take responsibility for stock control, maintaining minimum reorder levels to prevent shortages through maintaining inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and stock audits. and investigate and resolve stock discrepancies promptly.
To work closely with the Assembly/ Procurement Manager to help implement new company policies and operational procedures.
To help with the training and development of all departmental staff within the assembly, despatch and goods inwards department to maintain high performance standards.
To maintain clear and effective communication with management, colleagues, and other departments to ensure the smooth running of operations and the achievement of daily targets.
To provide effective reporting and Communication to Board Directors and all heads of departments
To ensure all staff are working within company guidelines and meeting their daily chair build targets.
To ensure all products are dispatched on time and to the highest quality standards, meeting customer expectations.
To help run the assembly, despatch and Goodsinwards department while promoting and upholding the company's core values including Maintain organised warehouse locations and stock rotation.
To support health and safety procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff and visitors in accordance with company policies.
To liaise with the manufacturing supervisor to ensure timely delivery of manufactured components.
Support supplier performance by providing feedback on delivery quality, shortages and non-conforming materials and escalate supply issues that could impact production schedules.
Support daily and weekly production planning to ensure labour and materials are aligned with customer demand.
Identify resource constraints and recommend solutions.
Ensure incoming goods are inspected in accordance with quality standards and work with procurement and suppliers to resolve quality issues.
Investigate production, quality and delivery issues using root cause analysis.

Communicate with the manufacturing department to ensure build schedule is achieved on a daily, weekly and monthly basis

Maintain on time despatch performance of orders
Ensure all production and dispatch documentation is completed accurately and on time.
Conduct effective production meeting reviewing priorities, progress and issues.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

_Technical Requirements:_

E: Ability to create and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/engineering drawings

Soft Skills:

E: To be a strong problem solver, good communication skills, be able to work under pressure, good organisation skills . People Leadership including Coach team leaders/operators, Drive employee engagement, Manage attendance and timekeeping.

Systems Requirements:

E: Microsoft office, (word, Excel, Teams)

D: Opera

Knowledge:

E: Previous knowledge of running an assembly department

Qualifications:

E: GCSE – English and Maths – level C / 4 or above

Experience -

E: 3+ years in a manufacturing or supply chain supervisory role, Experience managing Assembly, Goods Inwards, Warehouse or Dispatch operations, Experience of inventory control and stock management, Experience leading teams and driving KPI performance.

D: Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt, IOSH Managing Safely, Continuous Improvement experience.

Pay: Up to £18.00 per hour
