We are looking for a reliable and proactive Warehouse Operations Coordinator to support parcel sortation, scanning, dispatch preparation, site handovers, and day-to-day logistics activity across our Birmingham hub and satellite locations. The role will also include driving a company van when required for collections, recoveries, and inter-site movements.
The role will involve working within the Birmingham Mothership Hub and supporting satellite locations as required. Staff will be responsible for ensuring parcels are accurately received, scanned, sorted, loaded, dispatched, and handed over within strict operational windows.
As part of the role, warehouse staff may also be required to drive a company van when needed for middle-mile movements, recoveries, collections, inter-site transfers, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, scan, sort, and process parcels in line with operational requirements.
- Sort parcels to route, cage, tote, or satellite location level.
- Ensure all parcels are scanned accurately at each required touchpoint.
- Prepare cages, totes, and parcels for dispatch within agreed time windows.
- Support the loading and unloading of vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Assist with parcel handovers to last-mile delivery drivers and ensure parcels are correctly scanned into vehicles.
- Process undelivered parcels and returns in line with site procedures.
- Maintain accurate records using the Zippd app, warehouse management system, or other operational systems.
- Report discrepancies, missing parcels, damaged items, or operational issues immediately to the supervisor or manager.
- Support pick and pack activity when required as the operation expands.
- Keep the warehouse, satellite site, containers, work areas, and equipment clean, tidy, and safe.
Van Driving Duties
- Drive a company van when required for collections, recoveries, middle-mile routes, inter-site transfers, and movement of parcels between the Mothership Hub and satellite locations.
- Complete vehicle checks before and after use, reporting any defects immediately.
- Ensure parcels are safely loaded, secured, and transported.
- Follow pre-planned routes and complete journeys within required service windows.
- Maintain responsibility for vehicle payload, parcel condition, and safe driving standards at all times.
- Present booking references or collection details when required.
- Ensure all parcels collected, transferred, or delivered are scanned correctly.
- Comply with road traffic laws, company driving policies, and working time requirements.
Shift Pattern
This is a shift-based role supporting a seven-day logistics operation. Shifts may include early mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and bank holidays, depending on business needs.
Operational windows may include:
- Morning operations supporting next-day delivery activity.
- Afternoon and evening operations supporting same-day delivery activity.
- Additional hours during peak volumes, trial expansion, or operational changes.
Flexibility is essential.
Requirements
- Previous warehouse, parcel sortation, logistics, fulfilment, or depot experience preferred.
- Valid UK driving licence required for staff who may be asked to drive the van.
- Comfortable using handheld scanners, mobile apps, or warehouse management systems.
- Able to work accurately and at pace within short operational windows.
- Good attention to detail, especially when scanning, sorting, and handing over parcels.
- Able to carry out manual handling tasks safely.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow clear processes.
- Flexible approach to shifts, site location, and operational duties.
- Willingness to complete induction, training, and background checks where required.
- Understanding of health and safety, PPE, and safe working practices.
