Full job description

Bank Worker - Assistant Concierge at St Anne's Birmingham

This is an exciting role that has come available at a well-established supported accommodation scheme in the heart of Birmingham which celebrate 50 years of opening this year. We deliver a range of services in the Digbeth area of Birmingham, including specialist accommodation for those experiencing multi-exclusionary homelessness, and accommodation for those with a range of additional support needs. We work in close partnership with our local authority and with other support agencies across Birmingham to deliver targeted, person-centred support to our customers.

We are looking for a reliable new staff member to join an already established concierge team and part of the wider team, helping to ensure the building remains clean, safe and well managed on the night/weekends.

This role combines responsibility for cleaning with concierge-style duties that support the safe running of the building. You will be required to carry out cleaning of communal areas, offices, toilets, staff kitchen facilities and other shared spaces including communal bathrooms and the occasional void room to turn the room around ready for a new resident, ensuring high standards of hygiene and presentation are maintained. The role also includes monitoring the building during the night/weekend, carrying out routine checks and a health and safety check of the scheme when on shift, , reporting maintenance issues and ensuring the scheme is clean, safe and ready for staff, partners and residents and logging any incidents where required.

We are looking for someone who has previous experience in a cleaning, facilities, concierge or similar role and who is comfortable working independently during night shifts and weekends however this is not essential as training will be provided. You should be organised, reliable and able to take responsibility for maintaining standards across the building, with a strong awareness of health and safety and attention to detail. Experience of working in a busy building or community setting would be helpful, along with the ability to identify and report issues promptly and support the smooth day-to-day running of the centre. The role entails some cleaning duties including revamps of void rooms if these rooms require (occasional occurrence) as well as supporting to ensure the safety and security of the property.

This role is on a bank worker contract with the opportunity to pick up hours on a casual basis to cover any annual leave or staff shortages.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

· Undertaking regular security checks of the premises (including one check behind locked doors) of not less than two hours.

In the absence of the Lead Concierge Officer:

· Provide a welcoming first point of contact for all callers both on the telephone and at the gate. Make referral as required to other staff on duty or on call.

· Undertake the recording of all referrals including any contact details, and the completion of induction procedures.

· Monitor CCTV and record all actions by making entries in the Log Book, individual client files and other documents as appropriate.

· Record and deal with any complaints and refer to a colleague or other agency as seems appropriate.

· Undertake the clearance with another member of staff vacated rooms, to include the recording and verification of all cash, valuables and clearly labelling left luggage, after which prepare for re-letting.

· Befriend clients while maintaining strictly professional relationships and working within the hostels policies & procedures.

· Report any defects or hazards to the Lead Concierge Officer.

· Ensure the staff kitchen is kept stocked and clean.

· Undertake the cleaning schedule as directed.

· Undertake various designated checks including, fire alarms, fire equipment, linens and water temperatures and/or health and safety property check using the method in use.

· Under the direction of the Lead Concierge Officer, attend to trades people in relationship to fabric matters and agencies in relation to resident’s needs.

· Assist in the kitchen if necessary.

Communication:

· Report any changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition to their Keyworker, deputy manager or another member of the management team and ensure all concerns are recorded in personnel file.

· Participate in staff meetings, as and when required.

Health and Safety

· To be responsible for your own Health and Safety and that of anybody else who may be affected by your acts or omissions.

· Promote safe working practice in the Hostel and other sites.

General Duties

· Take responsibility for the safeguarding of adults/children and to follow St Anne’s safeguarding policies.

· To participate in staff training as and when required.

· To participate in staff supervision and appraisals.

· Take responsibility for personal development by keeping abreast of developments in the field of housing, its barriers and the issues faced by our residents.

· To abide by St Anne’s policies and procedures.

Pay: £13.00-£13.44 per hour
