Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your expertise in financial management and accounting software within a dynamic organisation committed to professional growth and development. The ideal applicant will possess strong analytical skills, experience with various accounting systems, and a proactive approach to mentoring colleagues.

Duties

Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes efficiently
Reconcile bank statements and ensure the integrity of financial data
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards
Support month-end and year-end closing procedures
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior finance staff or interns
Collaborate with other departments to facilitate smooth financial operations
Analyse financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, or areas for improvement

Experience

Proven experience in financial accounting or a similar role within a professional environment
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or equivalent systems is essential
Strong understanding of financial services industry standards and practices
Experience with accounts payable processes and general ledger management
Demonstrated ability to mentor or train team members effectively
Familiarity with financial management principles and reporting requirements
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
