Birmingham city centre | Office-based | £24,500–£29,000 depending on experience
Reeves is a proper PR agency. We still believe in ideas, relationships, news sense, good writing and doing the hard graft properly.
We’re a small Birmingham-based team working for clients in the built environment, healthcare, education, charity and public sectors. Some of the work is high-profile. Some of it is technical. Some of it is sensitive. Quite a lot of it is not glamorous. All of it needs doing well.
We are looking for a bright, capable PR & Content Account Executive who wants to learn fast, take responsibility and become genuinely useful in a busy agency.
This is not a remote role. It is not a pure social media role. It is not a content creator job. And it is definitely not a role for someone who wants to sit quietly waiting to be told what to do.
You will be in the office, working closely with the team, learning from senior people and helping to keep client work moving.
What you’ll actually do
You’ll be involved in the full run of agency work, including:
- writing press releases, social posts, client updates, articles and briefing notes
- researching stories, sectors, journalists and media opportunities
- building and updating media lists
- contacting journalists and following up properly
- planning and scheduling client social media content
- chasing approvals from clients without letting things drift
- helping prepare for filming, photography and client meetings
- supporting simple content production, including images, video clips and social assets
- writing contact notes and keeping tasks properly updated
- checking names, dates, facts, images, claims and links before anything goes out
- supporting reports, coverage updates and day-to-day client admin
- occasionally carrying kit, sorting logistics and doing whatever practical thing needs doing next
That last bit matters. In a small agency, good PR is not just having ideas. It is making sure the work actually happens.
Who we’re looking for
You’ll probably have at least two years’ experience in PR, communications, journalism, agency account support or a closely related role.
You need to be:
- a strong, accurate writer in British English
- organised enough to keep several small jobs moving at once
- confident speaking to clients, journalists and colleagues
- curious about news, people and how stories travel
- happy using the phone
- practical, reliable and willing to do the unglamorous work properly
- comfortable working in a Birmingham office five days a week
- able to take feedback without drama
- interested in sectors such as healthcare, education, construction, manufacturing, plumbing, heating, charities and public services
- able to pass an enhanced DBS check, as some client work involves schools, healthcare and care settings
A driving licence is desirable because not all our clients are on bus routes.
Useful extras
You do not need to be a filmmaker, designer or video editor. We already have that expertise in the team.
But it would help if you have:
- basic video editing skills, ideally in Adobe Premiere Pro
- confidence supporting filming, photography or simple content production
- experience creating or adapting social assets in Canva or Adobe Express
- experience scheduling social media content for clients or organisations
- a working understanding of how social media, video and traditional PR fit together
What will not suit this role
This probably is not for you if you mainly want:
- remote working
- lifestyle, fashion or influencer PR
- a pure copywriting role
- a pure video/content creation role
- strategy without delivery
- lots of supervision before every small task
- a job where routine admin, chasing and checking are seen as beneath you
We need someone who can spot a story, write clearly, talk to people, keep the system updated and make sure work gets finished.
What you’ll get
- £24,500–£29,000 depending on experience
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- private healthcare
- real responsibility from day one
- proper mentoring and training
- exposure to national-level campaigns and senior clients
- a small team where your work will be noticed
- a workplace with humour, high standards and a bit of perspective when things get hectic
Reeves is a PRCA National Workplace Champion. We take training, wellbeing and fair treatment seriously, but we also expect commitment, curiosity and follow-through.
How to apply
Please send your CV with a short note explaining why this role genuinely suits you.
The note matters. Please do not send a generic covering letter. In a few clear paragraphs, tell us:
- what relevant PR, communications, journalism or agency experience you would bring
- how you have kept work moving across several tasks or clients
- what kind of writing you have actually done
- whether you are happy working in a Birmingham office five days a week
- why this role interests you, not just why you want “a role in PR”
We read the note carefully. If it does not explain the fit, we are unlikely to take the application further.
If you want to learn proper PR in a proper agency, and you are prepared to do the work that makes good PR happen, we’d like to hear from you.
