BWC brings together the expertise of Birmingham Women's Hospital and Birmingham Children's Hospital, creating the UK's first combined specialist Trust dedicated to women, children and families.

Each year, we provide care through more than 641,000 patient visits, supported by over 6,000 colleagues delivering world class care, specialist treatment and pioneering research. Our research spans some of the most important areas in women's and children's healthcare, including gynaecology, maternity care, neonatal and fetal medicine, genomics, rare diseases and complex childhood conditions.

We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Director of Research and Innovation to lead, shape and deliver an ambitious vision for research, innovation and improvement across BWC. This senior leadership role will provide strategic direction for research and innovation across the Trust, ensuring the delivery of high quality, impactful research that improves outcomes for women, children and families.

As Clinical Director of Research and Innovation, you will champion an inclusive research culture, strengthen academic and innovation capability, and translate discovery into meaningful improvements in care and patient experience. This role is central to growing our national and international research profile whilst developing the next generation of researchers and innovators across the organisation.

The successful candidate will be an established researcher or innovator with senior leadership experience gained within healthcare, academia or another research-intensive environment. A proven track record of research excellence, academic credibility and influence at organisational and system level, along with a strong understanding of research and innovation across healthcare and commercial settings.

Experience of setting strategic direction and delivering transformational change within complex stakeholder environments is required, together with a demonstrable ability to lead, mentor and develop researchers and innovators.

Demonstrated success in developing collaborative partnerships across the NHS, academia and external organisations, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, clinicians, academics and industry partners.

The ideal candidate will be committed to promoting an inclusive, values led culture that supports collaboration, innovation and excellence.
