Through continued investment in advanced manufacturing technologies and ongoing business growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer to join our engineering team.
This is a hands-on technical role combining CNC programming, manufacturing engineering, process development, quality engineering, and continuous improvement activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimising manufacturing processes, supporting new product introduction, developing inspection strategies, and driving operational excellence throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities
CNC Programming & Process Development
- Program, set, prove out, and optimise CNC machining and turning centres using Fanuc controls.
- Develop efficient machining strategies to maximise productivity, machine utilisation, tool life, and process capability.
- Select cutting tools, work-holding methods, feeds, speeds, and machining parameters for a range of precision-machined components.
- Create and maintain setup sheets, tooling documentation, process instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Analyse machining performance and implement improvements to reduce cycle times and manufacturing costs.
- Support production teams in troubleshooting machining and process-related issues.
Manufacturing Engineering
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) from quotation through to full production release.
- Review customer drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications to assess manufacturability.
- Provide Design for Manufacture (DFM) recommendations to customers.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives focused on waste reduction, process standardisation, setup reduction, and productivity improvements.
- Support automation and manufacturing technology improvement projects.
CAD/CAM & Tooling
- Generate and optimise CNC programs using CAD/CAM software.
- Create and modify CAD models and manufacturing data where required.
- Design and develop fixtures, jigs, and tooling solutions to improve quality, repeatability, and efficiency.
- Verify machining strategies through simulation and process validation activities.
Quality & Inspection
- Develop and support inspection methodologies for machined and die-cast components.
- Program and operate Hexagon CMM
- Utilise PC-DMIS software to create inspection routines, measurement reports, and dimensional validation programs.
- Support First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), PPAP submissions, capability studies, and customer validation requirements.
- Investigate dimensional non-conformances and implement corrective actions to improve process capability and product quality.
- Ensure compliance with customer quality requirements and internal quality management systems.
Commercial & Technical Support
- Support the Technical and Sales Team with manufacturing cost estimates, cycle time calculations, tooling requirements, and technical feasibility reviews.
- Participate in customer discussions regarding manufacturing methods, quality requirements, and process capability.
- Collaborate with production, quality, tooling, and engineering departments to ensure successful project delivery.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Provide technical support and mentoring to CNC setters, operators, apprentices, and junior engineers.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects across the manufacturing operation.
- Promote best practices in quality, safety, and engineering excellence.
- Support preventative maintenance activities and machine capability improvements.

- Hexagon CMM -PC-DMIS Inspection Software
- CAD/CAM Software (Creo and Fusion 360 preferred)
Essential Requirements
- Proven CNC programming experience using Fanuc controls.
- Experience setting and optimising CNC milling and turning operations.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling technology, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and GD&T.
- Manufacturing engineering experience within a precision engineering environment.
- CAD/CAM programming experience.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience using Creo and/or Fusion 360.
- Experience operating and programming Hexagon CMM equipment.
- Experience using PC-DMIS for dimensional inspection and reporting.
- Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, SPC, and Control Plans.
- Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience.
- Experience within aluminium or zinc die-casting environments.
- Tooling, fixture, and jig design experience.
- Experience supporting customer quotations and manufacturing cost estimation.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Experience supporting automation or advanced manufacturing projects.
