The Role
We are seeking a proactive, highly organised Transport Planner to take charge of the day-to-day planning, routing, and operations of our large, modern tipper fleet. Working closely alongside our experienced Transport Managers, you will keep our fleet moving efficiently and handle real-time logistical challenges. Experience within the construction or bulk haulage industry is ideal but not strictly required—what matters most is your drive, logical thinking, and strong organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Route Planning: Plan and schedule our fleet of tippers to efficiently supply aggregate and muck-away services to our own internal contracts as well as third parties.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely alongside the Transport Managers to maintain smooth operations and provide a great level of service to all clients.
- Order Management: Take orders from customers and order materials from suppliers accurately.
- Customer Service: Actively take incoming calls, handling client requests and operational queries quickly and professionally.
- Record Keeping & Admin: Handle essential record keeping and general administration tasks within the transport office to ensure organised files and accurate data.
- Driver Coordination: Serve as the main point of contact for drivers, issuing clear site instructions and resolving on-the-road disruptions.
What We Are Looking For
- The Right Person: Background within the construction industry is a benefit but full on-the-job training will be provided for the right candidate. This is a great way to enter the construction logistics sector or move forward in your existing career.
- Key Skills: Must be highly proactive, detail-oriented, and exceptionally well-organised.
- Communication Skills: Confident telephone manner with the ability to handle calls and queries under pressure.
- Geographical Knowledge: Strong understanding of Hertfordshire, London, and Home Counties road networks.
