We are seeking an experienced BILD ACT certified senior instructor to join the Behaviour Support and Training Team with a background in the development and delivery of training programmes.
We are a highly motivated team that provides a wide range of learning and development opportunities including conflict resolution, breakaway and Teamwork (restrictive physical intervention) for staff working for Gloucestershire Health and Care Trust (c 5000 staff).
The applicant must be willing to use existing knowledge and skills and be able to transfer them into the GHC certified training model, PARRI. The model is trauma informed and is supportive of the GHC Trust reducing restrictive practice programme. The senior instructor role is viewed as practice leader and will promote a positive culture of care through the delivery of training and the provision of clinical advice and support.
Training & Education
Identify training needs (TNA)
Deliver a range of training (PARRI, conflict resolution, breakaway, search training)
Adapt delivery styles to suit different settings & audiences
Evaluate training impact on patient experience, staff skills, confidence, & safety
Stay up to date via networking & research, improving training quality & sharing best practice
Assist with reporting, reducing cancellations, & efficient use of resources
Maintain training equipment & update teaching materials
Involve service users in developing & reviewing training content
Ensure knowledge of legal frameworks (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
Clinical Responsibilities
Plan & deliver training aligned with Trust requirements
Support multidisciplinary work with staff, families, carers
Enable reasonable adjustments for patients with behavioural challenges
Act as a role model, promoting teamwork, communication, & professional relationships
Professional Responsibilities
Provide expert advice on reducing & managing restrictive practices
Take responsibility for ongoing professional development & maintaining required registration

This high-level overview shows we are in a healthy position, with higher scores than average for comparable organisations, alongside a great response rate, indicating good staff engagement. Training & Education
Deliver specialist training (e.g. PARRI, conflict resolution, breakaway) across all Trust sites & staff grades
Carry out training needs analysis (including surveys) to shape delivery
Support & sometimes lead training programmes, including mandatory training, in the absence of the Team Lead
Evaluate training effectiveness, particularly its impact on patient experience, staff confidence, & safety
Provide expert advice during clinical work on care planning, incident reporting, & use of skills
Contribute to service development through research, networking, & reviewing best practice
Assist with training reporting, reducing cancellations, & improving efficiency
Support recruitment, management, & supervision of junior & bank instructors
Maintain training equipment & ensure high standards of delivery, venues, & administration
Ensure compliance with legal frameworks (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
Promote co-production by involving service users in shaping training content
Contribute to professional knowledge (e.g. publications where appropriate)
Clinical
Plan & deliver training programmes aligned to Trust requirements & annual plans
Maintain awareness of current research, trends, & professional developments
Work with multi-disciplinary teams, families, carers, & external agencies to support patients with behavioural challenges
Support reasonable adjustments in clinical care (e.g. procedures for patients with additional needs)
Assist in innovation & evaluation of new systems or products
