This is an exciting opportunity to join UEL as an apprentice trainee to become an electrical or mechanical maintenance technician. The successful candidate will spend most of their time learning hands-on from our skilled team of on-site technicians in either the electrical or mechanical field and completing a technical course and MOET with one of our training partners. Your task will be to integrate yourself into the team, manage your time, and focus your learning with the available work, with support available from your line manager, mentor and the team itself. You will need to be physically fit and able to climb ladders and perform manual handling work.
We require 5 GCSE's or equivalent at C or above, and an interest in the electrical or mechanical fields. Excellent communication skills, any DIY or on-the-tools experience would be helpful towards the role. Relevant work experience and a passion for learning will help a candidate stand out.

You will need to be able to undertake training and instruction to achieve a nationally recognised qualification as an engineering apprentice.
To follow a formalised development plan and undertake practical training and instruction relating to the engineered or fabric services and processes specific to the University Hospital Southampton Estate to satisfactorily achieve recognised craft status.
To attend external academic learning facilities (i.e., college attendance day release) as required to obtain an industry-recognised technical certificate
In your work, you will undertake pre-planned and reactive maintenance tasks that will be trade-specific, working with a technician, utilise and develop diagnostic skills to help resolve faults.
Provide and receive complex technical information and instructions whilst building your judgment and decision-making skills.
Build a portfolio of evidence across your apprenticeship for your qualifications.
Build and gain technical knowledge specific to health care engineering.
With additional trade-specific training courses delivered as you develop.
