The Role:
The corporate communications and PR team provide a complete in-house service to raise the external profile of the university, in particular its research and innovation activities. The team’s remit covers a wide range of communications disciplines, dealing with both internal and external communications.
The role of the team is to promote, enhance and protect the profile and reputation of the university locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. It also delivers the media strategy in support of the university’s strategic plans, particularly its research and innovation strategy, and its global strategy. The team works with all faculties, departments and professional services at all levels to ensure the university’s key messages are heard and understood through a variety of channels, including digital media.
The postholder will implement the university’s media strategy, in association with the PR & Media team, with responsibility for:

Promoting, enhancing and protecting the profile and reputation of the university, regionally, nationally and international
- Delivering effective media content, including video and social media
- Working with the faculties to identify and work with academics to provide expert comment to the media and through digital channels
Hybrid working is available for this post and a minimum of two days in the office, days will need to be flexible around operational need

This appointment is a fixed-term contract until 30 June 2027.

Salary Information:
New appointments will routinely be made to the entry spine point (minimum) for the advertised grade, from where the individual will (in addition to receiving annual cost-of-living-related increases) progress through the pay range to the maximum for the grade, within a reasonable timeframe. This ensures fairness, consistency and transparency in our pay structures. A higher starting salary or market supplement may be available for a truly exceptional candidate when circumstances fully justify a departure from our normal policy.
