About the role
Our Welcome Desk Officer is a key front-facing role within our busy college environment. As the first point of contact for visitors, students, and staff, you will play an important part in creating a positive and welcoming experience. You will provide a friendly, professional, and efficient service through face-to-face interactions, email, telephone, and the college’s online chat service.
You will answer queries and triage people to the appropriate service when necessary. You will also carry out administrative tasks, collaborating with colleagues across departments to ensure a smooth, efficient, and positive experience for all students, staff and visitors.
- This post is 39 weeks a year in term time. The summer leave period will be six weeks’ continuous leave between July and August and will be determined yearly, but will roughly be the first week in July to the end of the third week in August.
The hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm on Monday, Thursday and Friday, with a half hour lunch break usually between 12:30pm-1:00pm. This role is based on-site.
About the person
You will have extensive and proven experience in delivering excellent customer service, ideally within a large, complex, customer-facing environment. You will be confident in engaging with a wide range of people and committed to providing a consistently high standard of service.
You will hold Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths, such as GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, or an equivalent qualification. Applications from candidates who do not meet this requirement but can demonstrate relevant and substantial work experience will also be considered.
You will thrive in a busy and fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. You will remain positive, professional, and composed when working under pressure. You will be proficient in using IT applications, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel, and experience of working with database systems would be advantageous.
You will be resilient, approachable, calm, patient, and professional in your demeanour. A genuine passion for customer service, along with the ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively with others is essential to succeed in this role.
