Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Engineer Intern to join our team for a short-term, in-person internship. This role is ideal for university students or recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in data engineering within a professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and optimise internal databases, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and accessibility.
Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows to identify and resolve performance issues or failures.
Integrate and manage external and internal APIs, ensuring seamless data exchange between systems.
Assist in designing and implementing data pipelines.
Document data processes, workflows, and system configurations clearly and accurately.
Collaborate with colleagues and client to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in a STEM field, such as Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Engineering, or Physics.
Strong academic performance with evidence of relevant coursework or project work.
Demonstrated interest in data engineering, databases, or backend systems.
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Candidates from top-tier universities such as Imperial College London, Oxford, Cambridge, UCL and KCL are strongly preferred.
Previous experience in data is beneficial.

Preferred Skills:

Proficient in Python and SQL.
Familiarity with relational databases and data modelling concepts.
Understanding of APIs (RESTful services, data formats such as JSON).
Strong communication, problem-solving and analytical skills.

Eligibility Criteria:

Undergraduate students or recent graduates.
Eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
Available to work in-person for the full duration of the internship.
No work visa can be provided for this internship.

This paid internship is designed for aspiring data engineers eager to build foundational skills in a collaborative environment while making meaningful contributions to our organization’s data infrastructure.

Pay: £30.00 per hour
