Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mobile Plant Service Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing a range of heavy machinery including excavators and dump trucks. This role requires a strong technical background in mechanical and electrical systems, with the ability to perform fabrication, welding, and electrical work. The position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where safety, precision, and customer satisfaction are paramount.

A works van will be provided.

Duties

Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on plant equipment such as excavators dumpers and to ensure optimal operation.
Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical diagrams, performing necessary repairs or replacements.
Fabricate components as needed using welding, soldering, and hand tools to meet repair specifications.
Use power tools and hand tools effectively for assembly, disassembly, and repair tasks.
Respond to plant breakdowns on site and resolve the problem in-situ
Perform equipment inspections and troubleshoot issues related to electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic systems.
Maintain accurate records of service activities and repairs carried out on each piece of equipment.
Assist with the installation of new machinery or modifications to existing equipment in accordance with safety standards.
Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations while maintaining a clean and organised work area.
Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance schedules.
Assist with heavy lifting tasks safely when handling large components or machinery parts.

Skills

Proven experience in fabrication, welding, soldering, electrical systems, and schematics interpretation.
Level 3 NVQ preferable
Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment repair and maintenance.
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment such as excavators and dump trucks.
Ability to read technical drawings and schematics accurately.
Experience in assembly, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy machinery.
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Experience working on construction site and following on site Health & Safety procedures.
Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Strong customer service orientation with clear communication skills.
Physical capability for heavy lifting and working in physically demanding environments. This role is ideal for a proactive professional eager to develop their career within the heavy machinery maintenance sector while delivering high standards of service across diverse projects.
