Technical Sales Manager

Job description:

About the Role

As a Technical Sales Manager, you’ll be responsible for developing opportunities, designing engineered solutions, and managing projects from initial enquiry through to order.

You’ll work directly with customers on-site, understanding their processes, identifying challenges, and proposing solutions that deliver measurable performance improvements.

Typical projects range from £50k to £1m+, often involving full system design and integration.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll take ownership of the full sales cycle, including:

Generating and managing your own sales pipeline
Conducting site visits, surveys, and technical assessments
Designing system concepts (airflow, duct sizing, system layouts)
Preparing technical proposals and quotations
Managing pricing, margins, and commercial negotiations
Liaising with internal engineering and project teams
Building long-term customer relationships across key sectors
Supporting projects through to order and handover

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who can combine technical understanding with commercial drive.

Essential:

Proven experience in technical or capital equipment sales
Strong engineering background (mechanical, process, or similar)
Experience with air systems, pneumatic conveying, dust control, or related technologies
Ability to design and understand system performance (airflows, pressures, ductwork)
Confident communicator with strong customer-facing skills
Self-motivated with the ability to manage your own workload and pipeline
Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

Experience in recycling, waste management, or manufacturing sectors
Familiarity with AutoCAD or technical drawing interpretation
Understanding of LEV / dust control compliance
