Social Media & Content Performance Manager
Location: Bolton – predominantly on-site
Contract: Self-employed, four days per week
Hours: Approximately 30 hours per week
Rate: £20–£25 per hour, depending on experience and portfolio
About the role
We’re looking for an experienced, highly organised Social Media & Content Performance Manager to become a key face and voice of our highly reputable education centre.
This is not a role for someone who simply creates reels and hopes they perform. We need a commercially minded social media professional who understands how to turn trends, audience insights and performance data into content that strengthens our brand, grows our channels and supports enquiries and sales.
You’ll become immersed in the business, developing a genuine understanding of our services, customers and industry. You’ll take ownership of our overall social media presence, with a particular focus on creating unique content for Meta Ads, Instagram, TikTok and building our YouTube channel.
This is a hands-on role combining strategy, planning, filming, on-camera presenting, editing, publishing and performance analysis.
Key responsibilities
- Research social media, hair, beauty and consumer trends and act quickly on relevant opportunities
- Create and manage a detailed quarterly content strategy and publishing calendar
- Plan, film, edit, schedule and publish high-quality content
- Produce engaging reels and short-form videos efficiently and accurately
- Regularly appear on camera as a confident, credible face and voice of the brand
- Develop and grow our YouTube channel, from content planning and filming through to publishing and performance review
- Manage the quality, consistency and day-to-day activity of our Instagram, TikTok and other relevant channels
- Review organic social and Meta advertising reports to understand which content, messages and creative formats perform best
- Use metrics including reach, engagement, watch time, click-through rate, cost per click, cost per lead and return on ad spend to inform future content
- Develop creative concepts for use in Meta advertising campaigns
- Work alongside the person responsible for running our paid advertising and provide informed recommendations based on campaign performance
- Produce clear monthly reports covering channel growth, content performance, audience behaviour and commercial results
- Maintain an organised content library, production schedule and approval process
- Respond to relevant trends quickly while keeping planned content on schedule
Working with the team
You’ll work closely with our wider in-house team to identify content opportunities and capture an authentic view of the business and its services.
You’ll also collaborate weekly with our graphic designer, to plan and brief the assets required for social media, email campaigns, presentations and other marketing activity.
We want someone who can take genuine ownership of the role, communicate clearly and reduce unnecessary revisions and back-and-forth.
About you
You will be:
- Experienced in social media strategy, content creation and account management
- Exceptionally organised and capable of planning a full quarter ahead
- Quick to recognise and respond to relevant trends
- Commercially aware, with an understanding of how content supports enquiries, leads, bookings and sales
- Confident interpreting Meta Ads Manager reports and explaining why certain creative performs better than others
- Comfortable using data and analytics to make decisions rather than relying on guesswork
- Confident, articulate and engaging on camera, with a strong, clear speaking voice
- Professionally presented and able to represent a premium brand
- Genuinely knowledgeable and passionate about female-focused hair, beauty, fashion and lifestyle trends
- Able to understand and connect authentically with our predominantly female audience
- A strong copywriter with excellent attention to detail
- Fast and capable when filming and editing short-form video
- Proactive, creative and able to work without constant direction
- Comfortable collaborating with several members of a busy team
- Receptive to feedback while capable of producing accurate, on-brand work with minimal revisions
Regular on-camera presenting is an essential part of this role, so applicants must be comfortable being filmed and representing the brand publicly.
Essential experience
- Demonstrable experience managing and growing social media accounts for a brand or business
- A strong portfolio containing social media content, reels or other short-form video
- Experience using video-editing and content-planning tools
- Strong working knowledge of Instagram, TikTok and YouTube
- Experience reading Meta Ads Manager reports or working alongside paid-media specialists
- Evidence of using analytics to improve content or campaign performance
- Excellent planning, communication and organisational skills
Previous experience within professional hair, beauty, aesthetics, fashion or a related consumer industry would be a significant advantage.
How success will be measured
Success will not be measured simply by the number of reels produced. We will look at:
- Consistent, well-planned and recognisably on-brand content
- Growth in relevant followers and meaningful audience engagement
- Increased reach, watch time and channel visibility
- Improved creative performance within paid campaigns
- Growth in website traffic, enquiries, leads, bookings and most importantly sales
- Clear reporting and evidence-based recommendations
- An efficient production process with fewer revisions and less last-minute working
- Meaningful growth across YouTube, Instagram and TikTok
Working arrangement
This is a self-employed contract based in Bolton for approximately 30 hours across four days per week.
Regular on-site attendance is essential because we want you to understand the business, experience our services, capture content as opportunities arise and collaborate closely with the team.
There may be some flexibility to complete planning, editing and reporting remotely once you have developed a strong understanding of the brand.
The initial agreement will be for three months, with the intention of establishing an ongoing working relationship following a successful review.
