We have an exciting opportunity for General Practitioners to join our Primary Care team at HMP Thameside. HMP Thameside is a category B remand prison located in South East London. The prison houses around 1,232 patients with a variety of needs including substance misuse and mental health.

Within this role you will be working in a busy healthcare environment, where no 2 days are the same. Ideal applicants will enjoy working in a fast paced role and have previous experience with substance misuse prescribing. In addition applicants with a keen interest in delivering training and development for junior prescribing staff would be welcomed to this role.

Hours

Wednesday: 09:00 - 22:00

Saturday: 11:00 - 22:00

This is a part-time role working 24 hours per week.

Salary

You'll receive a salary of up to £134,680 FTE per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

Our General Practitioners are extremely valued and are well respected members of the Prison Healthcare community, as a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will

Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, and therefore as a General Practitioner at Practice Plus Group you get the opportunity to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldn’t usually experience within a practice, or even A&E environment.
Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient’s requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as the patients you work with having active
involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Requirements

MBChB or MBBS
Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
Evidence of continuing professional development
Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
