An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Pharmacy Support Worker (Distribution Area), Band 2 , to join the Pharmacy Department.
The post holder will support the safe, timely assembly, issue and distribution of medicines and stock items to wards and clinical areas across the Trust. Working under the supervision of qualified pharmacy staff, you will play a key role in ensuring medicines are available, correctly stored and in date to support effective patient care.
This role is ideal for someone who is organised, reliable and able to work as part of a busy pharmacy team. Full training will be provided, and the post holder will be supported to complete NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services if not already held.
To assist with the assembly, issue and distribution of medicines, intravenous fluids and other pharmacy stock to wards and departments across the Trust.
To undertake ward and department visits to support stock checking, rotation and replenishment in line with departmental procedures.
To process routine and urgent stock requests accurately using pharmacy computer systems.
To ensure medicines are stored, transported and issued safely, maintaining security and an auditable trail at all times.
To work closely with pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, nursing and clinical staff to ensure ward stock levels support patient needs.
You will also be required to work weekend shifts and late shifts on a rotational basis
Previous experience is preferred but not essential but you must have experience in lifting and handling of inanimate objects. A good level of fitness is required for this role as it involves frequent walking and standing.
The Pharmacy Department employs over 150 staff covering a wide range of activities throughout the Trust and working over a varied selection of job roles. We are a large but friendly department and thrive on helping each other to ensure we give the best service we can to our patients.
Pharmacy Stores is the engine room of the department and we ensure all medicines are purchased, received and supplied correctly and in a timely manner, to treat our patients. We are a small friendly team who work together behind the scenes, to enable all patients receive the medication they need.
Pharmacy provides bespoke training packages for all jobs and strongly believe in "grow our own" ethos.

The post holder will act as a Pharmacy Support Worker within the Distribution Area , undertaking a wide range of duties under supervision, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and Trust policies.
Key responsibilities include:
Visiting wards and clinical areas to carry out stock top‑ups, expiry date checking and stock rotation, ensuring medicines are in date and stored correctly.
Assembling and issuing stock requests for medicines, intravenous fluids and other pharmaceutical products using the pharmacy computer system.
Processing urgent and routine requests from wards, clinics and external organisations accurately and efficiently.
Ensuring correct documentation is completed and maintained to allow full auditability of all medicines supplied.
Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment within pharmacy distribution and storage areas.
Liaising professionally with nursing staff, pharmacy technicians and pharmacists to resolve stock queries and support safe medicines use.
Complying at all times with Trust policies, Health & Safety requirements, infection prevention and control guidance and confidentiality standards.
Participating in training and development, including completion of NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services , as required for the role.
