Full job description

Job Summary
The Arches are seeking 2 motivated and compassionate Apprentice Teaching Assistants to support our educational team. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience working with children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities such as autism. The successful candidate will assist in creating an inclusive learning environment, fostering development, and supporting individual student needs under the supervision of qualified staff.

Duties

Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons tailored to diverse learning requirements
Support children with special educational needs, including those with autism, in classroom activities and behavioural management
Provide one-on-one tutoring and mentoring to students requiring additional help
Help organise classroom resources and materials to facilitate smooth lesson delivery
Support students with their social and emotional development through positive interaction and encouragement
Observe and report on student progress, behaviour, and any concerns to teaching staff
Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all learners

Requirements

Genuine interest in working with children and supporting their educational journey
Experience or knowledge of special education, particularly working with individuals with disabilities or autism, is desirable
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents
Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and a nurturing attitude
Prior experience in tutoring or mentoring is advantageous but not essential; willingness to learn is key
Good organisational skills to manage resources and assist in classroom activities
Commitment to inclusive education principles and safeguarding policies

This position provides valuable hands-on experience for individuals aspiring to pursue careers in teaching or special education. The role is ideal for those passionate about making a positive difference in children's lives through dedicated support and mentorship.

Pay: £8.00-£12.71 per hour
