As a
Support Officer you will join our friendly and hard-working team in supporting customers living in supported accommodation service, enabling customers to sustain their tenancies by promoting independence, freedom and choice.
Key responsibilities
- Assess referrals and engage with prospective clients using a person-centered approach, and liaise with health professionals/other agencies/colleagues as appropriate
- Ensure that prospective and current clients are fully aware of the support available, their financial obligations, rights and responsibilities under their tenancy/occupation arrangements and all related procedures
- Agree and review client Independent Living Plans and Risk Assessments on a regular basis, deliver contracted hours of support to achieve the required outcomes
- Engage in continuous professional development and reflective practice
- Forge and maintain links with partner agencies and other key stakeholders as appropriate to ensure that good communication and co-operation is maintained
- Report any concerns relating to safeguarding of vulnerable people using the correct procedures, attending case conferences and other meetings as required
- Ensure that all relevant documentation and records are completed and submitted in an accurate and timely manner
- Ensure that prospective and current clients are fully aware of the support available, their financial obligations, rights and responsibilities under their tenancy/occupation arrangements and all related procedures.
About you
* GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English (Grade A*–C)
- A strong understanding of supporting individuals to achieve and maintain independence
- Experience working with diverse client groups
- Ability to motivate and support individuals facing complex challenges, including homelessness, mental health issues, trauma, substance misuse, and behavioural needs
- Good understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures
- Confident using IT systems and management information tools
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with external agencies and stakeholder
Desirable
- Housing or support-related qualification
- Experience supporting individuals with substance misuse and/or mental health needs
- Full driving licence and access to own vehicle desirable
