Residential Domestic Care Assistant / Handyperson
Are you someone who loves rolling up your sleeves and making a real difference?
We’re looking for a kind, practical and cheerful person to join our small, friendly residential home. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys a bit of everything — whether you’re gardening, decorating, cleaning, or supporting residents to live happy, active and healthy lives.
If you get satisfaction from keeping a home looking lovely and safe, while helping others feel supported and valued, we’d love to hear from you!
What the role involves
You’ll be a key member of our team, blending hands-on domestic and maintenance work with caring support for our residents. Every day is nicely varied!
Care & Support
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including meal preparation, personal care (such as showering and dressing), and getting out and about in the community for health appointments and leisure
- Support residents to look after their pets (we have dogs and chickens!)
- Encourage and motivate residents to stay active, productive and engaged
- Follow individual care plans, monitor wellbeing, and report any changes
- Keep accurate, caring records of residents’ days and any important information
Domestic & Maintenance
- All domestic tasks — cleaning, tidying, emptying bins, and making sure the home is always clean, safe and welcoming
- Gardening and outdoor upkeep
- Light decorating and general handyperson jobs
- Car washing
Important notes
- An Enhanced DBS check will be required before you start work.
- You will only assist with medication after you have received suitable training.
What we’re looking for
- A warm, patient and practical person who genuinely enjoys helping others
- Someone who takes pride in keeping a home clean, tidy and safe
- Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care is highly desirable
- Good communication skills in English (Welsh is a bonus!)
- Confident driver with a clean driving licence (essential)
- Able to work well as part of a small team or independently
- Basic computer skills for simple record keeping
- Previous experience in care or domestic work is preferred but not essential — the right attitude and personality are most important!
Hours & Contract
- Permanent, full-time position
- £13.00 – £13.80 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications (This rate increases each April in line with National Living Wage uplifts)
- Expected hours: 30–37 per week
- Most hours will be Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm, with some evenings and weekend work required
Perks & Benefits
- Eligibility for a Blue Light Card (giving you discounts at many stores)
- Access to Apple One subscription (Apple TV+, Fitness+, Music, Arcade and News+)
- Ongoing training and development opportunities
- The chance to be part of a supportive, friendly team where your contribution is truly valued
