Shunter and Yard Operative

Here at ABP Langport, located in Southwest Somerset (TA10 9HG), we are currently recruiting for the ideal candidate to join our Yard Team as a Shunter and Yard Operative.

Transport required due to our rural location. Please check your travel options before applying.

Role definition:

Provision of Shunting and Forklift services to maintain the smooth running of
the plant and site to contribute to maximum operational efficiency.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate Shunter and Forklift as required according to SOP's, ensuring that all trailers are moved to the correct area and working as per procedures
Ensure factory perimeters and external areas are maintained in an orderly and tidy manner at all times
Ensure all non-food deliveries correspond with appropriate paperwork
Carry out all vehicular activities in a manner which complies with site Health and Safety requirements
Ensure CAT 1 and CAT 3 materials are disposed of correctly and that appropriate paperwork is correctly completed and retained
Prepare trailers for production use in compliance with organisation operating procedures
Load and unload lorries, ensuring goods are checked in accordance with organisational operating procedures
Monitor bone-exit conveyor and ensure trailer is moved as required to prevent disruption to production or spillage of waste material
Responsible for ensuring all maturation trailers are cleaned and working correctly

Knowledge and Experience:

Essential

The individual must have the ability to multitask and to communicate with all levels of site staff

Ensure the support to the operational teams is efficient and meets the needs of the business at all times

Desirable

The ideal candidate will hold the appropriate vehicle licences and take responsibility for maintaining the licenses.

Day

Monday to Friday

10am - 7pm

Reporting to:

Rate: £15.50 p/h
