Full job description

We deliver NHS services from three surgeries across Blandford and employ a variety of non-clinical staff and health professionals such as GP's, Nurses and Paramedics.

We have a vacancy for a Part Time Dispensary Clerk to join our friendly and supportive team with the following working pattern (28.5 hours per week): Monday: 8am - 6:30pm, Tuesday: 8am - 6.30pm and Friday 8am to 6:30pm.

This role is based across two sites (Whitecliff Surgery and Child Okeford Surgery) so driving is essential.

As a Dispensary Clerk you would be expected to project a positive and friendly image to dispensary patients and other visitors and deal with queries in a professional, courteous, and efficient way.

Dispensary Admin Tasks

Collection of prescription charges/checking patient exemption statements
Cash handling
Maintaining full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions
Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with Practice guidelines
Handing out prescriptions in accordance with Practice policies
Dealing with patients and pharmacies face to face, by phone and email in accordance with practice policies
Undertaking other reasonable duties within the framework of the post

Our ideal candidate would have:

Experience of working in a public reception environment
Experience of telephone switchboard operation
Experience of dealing with the public
Excellent keyboard and computer skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense
