Full job description

The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team that is reviewing and updating the way we work with children and young people. As a specialist Harmful Sexual Behaviour worker you will be part of a network of professionals assessing and addressing risk and need. You will attend strategy discussions and provide consultation, advice and guidance in relation to presenting behaviours. You will provide effective interventions to children and families to address need and plan for safety. The work of the team is supported by a Clinical Psychologist who helps with formulation, trauma informed intervention planning and reflective practice

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.

Working Pattern:

This is a full time position (37 hours) based in Chy Trevail, Bodmin. Flexible working will be considered

What you’ll need to succeed:

Applicants must have a Social Work Qualification or equivalent (such as Youth Justice, Targeted Youth Worker) or other therapeutic qualifications e.g., Counselling, Therapeutic Life Story work, Art Therapy, Drama Therapy, Play therapy & Registration with appropriate professional body (e.g., APAC, UKCP, BACP, HPC, SWE

You must also have experience of working with children and young people with complex needs and demonstrate a good understanding of relevant theory/ research and experience in applying the evidence base to work with children, young people and families to promote recovery from trauma.

You will have excellent communication and assessment skills and be able to accurately record information on a database.

You will have a strong sense of the child’s lived experience at the centre of your practice.

You will be familiar with critical reflection, and you will also be familiar with the need for positive challenge and have a record of achieving good standards of practice.

This post requires the development of specialist knowledge in the area of young people with harmful sexual behaviours. A range of carefully selected training and professional development opportunities will be available to the successful applicant alongside regular professional supervision and support.
