About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Structural Engineer with a strong FEA specialism to join our growing engineering team. This is a key technical role where you’ll take ownership of structural analysis and design across a range of innovative marine structures (composite and metallic).
You’ll work across the full lifecycle—from early concept development to production support—ensuring structural integrity, compliance, and manufacturability on vessels up to ~24m (and beyond).
This role also offers the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical direction of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structural calculations and analysis for composite and metallic structures
- Build and run Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models, including load definition and result interpretation
- Validate FEA outputs using hand calculations and rule-based assessments
- Optimise structures for strength, stiffness, weight, and manufacturability
- Ensure compliance with relevant Class, Flag and regulatory standards
- Support production teams with build queries and technical issues
- Contribute to concept development and feasibility assessments
- Review and provide feedback on junior engineers’ work
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Naval Architecture, Design, Systems)
About You:
Essential:
- Proven experience in structural design and analysis (marine, aerospace or similar)
- Strong background in Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Ability to perform and validate hand calculations
- Knowledge of composite manufacturing methods (e.g. infusion, prepreg, RTM)
- Solid understanding of structural behaviour, load paths and failure modes
- Experience working with regulations and certification bodies
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Desirable:
- Experience with Siemens NX / Simcenter (or similar)
- Composite laminate design knowledge
- Experience in structural optimisation and weight estimation
- Mentoring or leadership experience
What We’re Looking For
- Strong engineering judgement and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Clear communicator across technical and non-technical teams
- A collaborative, proactive approach with a focus on quality
Why Join Us?
