We are seeking an experienced and proactive administrator to join our team, primarily supporting the Vehicle Workshop at our Westhampnett depot.
Chichester District Council operates an in-house vehicle workshop responsible for maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of over 90 vehicles, including HGVs, LGVs, road sweepers, and specialist equipment.
As a Senior Business Support Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of administrative processes that support the vehicle workshop in their maintenance and repair activities.
Key responsibilities
Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will:

Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Vehicle Workshop team.
- Ensure coordination between workshop technicians, parts ordering, and supplier deliveries to maintain an efficient workshop workflow.
- Raise new orders and process payments for goods and services.
- Ensure efficient administrative support for parts control, which includes liaising with suppliers, raising and receipting purchase orders.
- Maintain and update electronic systems and records.
- Contribute to broader administrative support across the service, including providing cover for other Senior Business Support Officers during periods of leave and absence.
We are looking for someone who:

Has proven experience in a busy administrative role.
- Is highly organised and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Has excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Is self-motivated, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Experience of working in a fleet, workshop, or operational environment would be advantageous, as would experience of financial administration, invoicing processes, and using electronic systems. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is also expected.
