Job Title: Meter Surveyor / Installer – Clean Water Infrastructure & Smart Metering

Role Overview
As a Meter Surveyor / Installer at Cappagh Contractors, your role will focus on preparing and checking sites ahead of planned meter installations and associated clean water works. You will visit properties in advance to ensure they are ready for installation, identify any issues that may prevent works from progressing, and confirm and verify each property’s water supply.
This role also includes an important customer-facing element, as you will engage directly with residents to explain upcoming works and gather key information. While previous water industry experience is desirable, full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit and assess properties prior to planned meter installations or clean water works
- Confirm site readiness and identify any additional works required before installation
- Check and prove live water supply to properties
- Record and report any access issues, obstructions, or remedial works required so they can be resolved in advance
- Liaise with planning teams, operational teams, and supervisors to ensure sites are fully prepared before field teams attend
- Engage professionally with customers, explaining the purpose of visits and planned works
- Accurately complete surveys, site notes, and reports using company systems
- Support a positive customer experience and represent Cappagh Contractors professionally at all times
- Ensure all activities comply with health, safety, environmental, and company standards
Skills & Experience
- Experience in site surveying, utilities, construction, or a customer-facing role would be beneficial
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Good attention to detail and the ability to identify potential issues early
- Confident working independently and managing daily site visits
- Basic IT skills for reporting and data entry
- Knowledge of the water industry is desirable but not essential
