Full job description

Job Overview
We are a growing company based in Southwick looking for an experienced and proactive Accounts Assistant to join our close-knit team. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys the variety of a busy office and wants to be part of a company that is expanding.

You will have the opportunity to truly "own" the finance function, streamline our workflows, and grow your responsibilities as the business continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Xero Management: Handling all bank reconciliations and daily ledger entries
Subcontractor Management: Processing fortnightly and monthly pay runs, ensuring all invoices are accurate and CIS deductions are applied correctly.
Expense Management: Overseeing subcontractor expense claims, verifying receipts, and ensuring they are correctly processed alongside their pay
Monthly Compliance Managing monthly PAYE payroll and filing monthly CIS returns (training on CIS can be provided)
Cost Allocation: Ensuring subcontractor and projects expenses are tagged to the correct projects so we can monitor real-time job costs.
Daily Support: Handling the paying of bills, light credit control (chasing overdue invoices), and resolving supplier queries.

About You

Experience: Ideally a minimum of two years of experience in a similar bookkeeping or accounts assistant role.
Xero Savvy: You must have solid, hands-on experience using Xero to manage business accounts.
Organised & Logical: You are comfortable managing staggered payment deadlines and have a high attention to detail when it comes to expenses.
Proactive Mindset: We want someone who will ask questions, figure things out, and suggest better ways of working as we grow.
Team Fit: You enjoy working in a small, friendly office environment where everyone mucks in to get the job done.
